I now know that there really is nothing I want to do more than medicine, and I owe my new determination entirely to the Gap Medics team. What a summer!
What Our Prices Include (click to expand)
Hospital Placement
A huge amount of work goes into organising your placement, from identifying the best hospitals and negotiating partnership agreements to the daily contact our overseas managers have with the doctors, nurses and other staff involved.
We also pay hospitals fees for every placement to ensure good supervision from motivated staff, and so that everyone benefits from the programme.
Clinical Tuition
Several afternoons a week, you'll have clinical teaching sessions given by a range of healthcare professionals exclusively for Gap Medics students. These are designed to help you understand and interpret what you see during your practical placement.
Accommodation
Running our own guesthouses exclusively for Gap Medics students means we can guarantee standards of safety, security and comfort that companies who use host families or hostels simply can't. It also adds a fantastic social dimension to the experience and is a great way to make new friends.
Food
Every Gap Medics house has a full-time caterer to make sure you get a good hearty breakfast and dinner every weekday and the kitchens are fully-stocked for you to help yourself to lunch and at weekends.
Arrival Airport Transfer
A Gap Medics member of staff will be at the airport to meet you on arrival and take you to the house - we never just send a driver or an agent.
Local Orientation
Once you've settled in, one of our in-country staff will take you out for your local orientation. We'll show you everything you need to know about local transport, Internet cafes, cash machines, places to eat and a lot more. The orientation also includes a cultural introdcution to the country.
In-Country Support
In each destination, we have an experienced Programme Manager permanently employed with a full time staff team. We do not work through local agents or outsource any of our services in-country. The Programme Manager is available 24 hours a day in case of an emergency.
Help With Preparations
Our friendly and professional team at Head Office in England is there to guide you from registration up to and beyond your placement. Whatever you need us for, we're only a phone call or email away.
Online Trip Planner
From the point of registration, you'll have full access to our online system called 'My Trip', giving you a personalised timeline to help you prepare as well as a huge amount of information on the country, hospital and house you'll be going to. It even shows you other students who will be on the programme at the same time as you.
