House and Food
The Gap Medics house in Jodhpur comprises two traditional stone villas, joined by the back garden. With two living rooms, a central courtyard, large balconies and a huge roof terrace covering the entire building, there's no shortage of communal areas to socialise or find peace and quiet!
The eight bedrooms all have attached bathrooms and are shared between four students. Bedrooms and some of the communal spaces are air conditioned, which you'll appreciate when trying to sleep if you're there in Rajasthan's hot season! Furnishing is simple and comfortable, with bunk beds, storage space, showers and Western style toilets.
Our full-time Caterer, Dinesh, prepares breakfast and dinner at the house every weekday as well as pack lunches for those who want them. Food is a mixture of Indian and international dishes, but with a deliberate emphasis on local cuisine as we think that's one of the best things about visiting a new country!
As with all our houses, Jodhpur is in a very safe location, but for total peace of mind we have security guards on the gate 24 hours a day, keypad entry systems and window security bars.
"Sharing the house with other students was great as I went out on my own. Groups of us went travelling most weekends and it also meant we had people we could relate to to share the whole experience... I think that's really important."
