Hospitals
We have partnerships with five of the leading hospitals in Jodhpur, offering a wide range of departments and specialities for hospital work experience. We generally work with the mid-range privately run hospitals as these give an excellent insight into healthcare provision for the general public, but with better facilities and higher standards than some of the poorly-resourced government hospitals.

If you're looking for a general overview of medicine or nursing, rotating around departments in one of the larger multi-speciality hospitals usually offers the best experience. Options for medics and nurses include paediatrics, orthopaedics, general and obstetric surgery, neurosurgery, gynaecology and general medicine. India also offer some of our best dentistry placements, working with a major dental college hospital.
As always, we’ll work with you during the lead up to your placement to make sure you get the experience that is right for you.
All our partner hospitals are in and around the city of Jodhpur, most within 25 minutes rickshaw ride of the Gap Medics house. Many of the doctors who serve as our student mentors are the Directors of the hospitals; they are highly respected within the community and proud to be part of our international education programmes. Their wealth of experience makes them ideal leaders for our bespoke clinical teaching sessions that students attend three afternoons a week.

"This experience has been extemely valuable, not only as work experience but as a cultural experience. I had never done anything like this before and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to do this. By carrying out work experience in India I was given so much more freedom to see things that I would never have been allowed to see in England... it has made me think how fortunate we are to have the resources that are available to us - it is sad that we take so many things for granted."
