There's nothing like a room with a view, especially when it's the striking Uluguru Mountains. Located at the foot of these beauties is our purpose-built, sustainable Gap Medics house in Morogoro. With a refreshing pool, huge garden and a carefree vibe, you'll feel right at home as soon as you put your bags down.

While in Morogoro you'll have plenty of time to explore the many wonders of Tanzania. Join us as we venture to the grassy plains of Mikumi National Park - home to remarkable wildlife including elephants, giraffes, and lions. You'll even get to visit a traditional Maasai village. If you're interested in giving back to the community, you can also volunteer at the local orphanage.

The city itself is bustling, friendly and has a very authentic feel. With the hospital only being a short walk from the house, you'll have plenty of time to explore the charms of Morogoro in your downtime.

As one of Europe's most dynamic capital cities, this modern gem is conveniently located in the middle of Poland making it a convenient and easy two-hour flight from London. It's also an ideal springboard location for any cheeky interrail adventures you may be thinking of doing before or after your placement.

As a city, Warsaw is incredibly safe to travel around with many attractions—like the hospital—only a short walk or tram ride away. During your time with us, there are also plenty of activities to keep you busy. You'll get the opportunity to visit museums, ice skate, enjoy the local cuisine in the city's vibrant cafes and restaurants, hike, horse ride, and even try your hand at indoor skiing! If you're into music, the city also has a thriving music scene with a number of festivals happening throughout the year.

Phitsanulok

With its tropical beaches, dazzling temples and forever sunshine, Thailand will welcome you with open arms. There is something for everyone in this exotic paradise, from the beautiful mess that is Bangkok to the turquoise waters of its serene islands (think island-hopping weekends away!) Thailand is also conveniently located next to Laos and Cambodia, making it the perfect gateway for other South East Asian adventures!

In Thailand you'll be based in Phitsanulok, a relaxed and cheerful city in the north of the country. From here you'll get the opportunity to take an adventure and tick something pretty big off your bucket list. How would you like to feed, bathe and ride an elephant through beautiful rainforest trails? We told you it was big!

Another interesting thing about Phitsanulok is its fascinating history and culture. When you're not at the hospital, do as the locals do and grab a tuk tuk and explore the city's ancient temple, Wat Yai, or head down to the night markets and pick up some mouth-watering Thai cuisine. You're welcome.

Joining us here means you'll be perfectly positioned for a weekend adventure to Ruaha National Park - a stunning reserve featuring some of the best game viewing in the country. Wildlife aside (hard we know), visiting Iringa is an eye-opening experience. Not only will you be exposed to the challenges of delivering primary healthcare in a developing country but also you'll be able to volunteer at a local orphanage in your spare time.

The city of Iringa is easy-going and cheerful, and carries with it an authentic Eastern African vibe. It has a great sense of community, making it the perfect place for exploring, relaxing and soaking in the Tanzanian sunshine. Your time in Pula will be packed with fun, sun and adventure. When you're not at the hospital, Italy's floating wonderland—Venice—is only a short trip away. If you’re more of a sailing the seven seas kind of person, why not hop a boat and explore the big wide blue of the Adriatic? If you're looking to get up to something more local, you can explore the city's ancient Roman amphitheatre.

Another great thing about Pula is that it's easy to reach from the UK. At a short two and a half hours away from London, Pula is the perfect location for a cheeky one-week placement abroad. Pula is also host to two major music festivals, Dimensions and Outlook, so pack your dancing shoes.

Kilimanjaro

Snuggly located beneath the snow-capped peaks of the majestic Mt Kilimanjaro is the town of Moshi. This Gap Medics location is only open during peak programme periods and offers an experience similar to Morogoro - authentic, energetic and lively.

Kilimanjaro has more to offer than simply the mountain. You'll get the opportunity to go on a safari adventure to Tarangire National Park, a location famous for its spectacular elephant migration and tree-climbing lions. If white sandy beaches are more your thing, head to the crystal-clear waters of Zanzibar, a spectacular island just a short flight away.

The town of Moshi is a buzzing hub of activity with people dropping in either before or after they conquer the mountain. This gives the town a particularly easy-going vibe, perfect for people watching and exploring. If you're interested in giving back to the community, you can also volunteer at the local orphanage.
