The Universities Award

Gap Medics placements are recognised by ASDAN (The Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network) and Gap Medics have a partnership agreement with ASDAN enabling us to offer the ASDAN Universities Award to each student completing a placement with us.

Our healthcare placements have been recognised by ASDAN as meeting the requirements of the ASDAN Universities Award. Given the nature of our programmes and number of learning hours a student will experience, ASDAN have recognised that participation in a Gap Medics placement means that you meet the requirement needed to achieve your Universities Award and you can claim your certificate after you have completed your placement with us.

Many UK universities acknowledge the ASDAN Universities Award’s value. It features in the UCAS guidance notes for applicants to university as something noteworthy to mention on your UCAS form.

What is it?

The Universities Award recognises students who have been involved in experiential learning and who have developed their own personal skills including working with others, improving own learning and problem solving.

Many students have found that the Universities Award has made a significant difference to the outcome of their UCAS application process, either at formal interview stage or to the subsequent offers that have been made.

What UCAS say

“We suggest you include… details of non-accredited skills and achievements which you have gained through activities, such as the ASDAN Universities Award.”
